Samsonite India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of world’s largest travel luggage maker Samsonite International is investing over Rs 75 crore in setting up luxury and sports lifestyle stores across the country.
“We are shifting gears from being a premium segment to luxury and sports lifestyle brand in the Indian market,” Ramesh Tainwala, president Asia Pacific and West Asia at Samsonite International, told Financial Chronicle. He said the 100-year company will open 15 company-owned Hartmann luxury and 50 High Sierra sports brand stores across India in the next three years.
“The strategy is to offer an entire range of products from Sansonite stable for the discerning Indian, whose appetite for the branded products has been growing rapidly,” Tainwala said. Hartmann and High Sierra brands will help it position itself as a lifestyle brand and not just a luggage-only brand, he said.
